February 4, 2010 Strip-Tilling Before Tomatoes Are Transplanted
Dr. Jeff Mitchell working with the Sano Farms, together they are getting into a better managed crop of tomatoes to reduce input costs, reduce PM10 concerns, retain residue for organic matter, reduce fuel costs and maintain excellent yields.
Keep watch of this operation for it meets many grower needs: fertility concerns, erosion issues, PM10 issues, input costs, labor, water savings, and so on. California farmers are being watched intensely to what their operations can be and what they may not. The maximum tillage of the past is being challenged and changed. The folks at Sano Farms are innovative and making a difference.
